STA177 ’Physical Literacy’ with special guest John Scriven of Move Well
Saturday Dec 16, 2023
Saturday Dec 16, 2023
How much of the injury & pain experienced by our clients can be attributed to the modern day decline in physical activity in everyday life? As soft tissue therapists, what should we be doing with our clients to counterbalance this?
In this episode of the Sports Therapy Association Podcast, special guest John Scriven, Movement & Rehabilitation Specialist and founder of Move Well, discusses the current pandemic of 'physical illiteracy', and how having '21st-century brains in ice-age bodies' contributes to sedentary-related disease and movement inefficiency.
About John Scriven
John is a natural movement & rehabilitation specialist with a passion for helping individuals achieve physical literacy. With over 20 years of experience in the field, he has developed a unique approach to movement therapy that is influenced heavily by evolutionary and neurodevelopmental science whilst remaining grounded in evidence-based practice. John has delivered thousands of hours of movement coaching in both rehabilitation and performance settings to a wide range of individuals and disciplines, from youth to world championship level. He also has been heavily involved in the international physical literacy movement and spear headed a world-renowned development programme in Jersey.

With SO many quality presentations being offered this year at Therapy Expo (Birmingham NEC Nov22nd & 23rd 2023), there is a danger for us soft tissue therapists to get overloaded and realise on return to clinic that we don't actually have much from the two day conference to put into practice!
To give you advice on how to avoid this, host Matt Phillips (creator of Runchatlive.com) and Gary Benson (founder of the STA) are joined in this episode by Andy Hosgood, who has nearly 20 years experience setting up and running private therapy clinics, and over the last 5 years has been coaching other therapy business owners to achieve their own successes (originally with 'Elevate Your Clinic' and now via AndyHosgood.co.uk).
Andy Hosgood will be presenting in the STA Therapy Update Theatre at 12.20pm on Day 1 of Therapy Expo: 'How To Elevate Your Client Experience To Ensure Success':
"In a challenging world of private practice, how you treat your clients is essential in creating a long standing, reputable and successful business. To achieve this consistency is key. In this presentation, Andy Hosgood, Co-Founder of Elevate Your Clinic, will explain his 10-step framework to elevate your client experience and how to implement it into your business to ensure your success."
