In this episode “Team GB Judo: massage For Recovery”, special guest Steve Miller (Grow Physio Academy) talks about the work he has recently done with Team GB Judo athletes, focussing on strategies for optimum recovery, including massage & manual therapy.
Steve discusses how although massage for recovery has traditionally not been particularly well utilised in the sport of Judo, when employed correctly it can play a hugely important role in sports performance, from elite right through to recreational. We also look at the Online & Face-To-Face Courses available on his website GrowPhysioAcademy.com, which incidentally attracts more Sports Therapists and Sports Rehab Specialists than Physios!
About The Guest:
Steve Miller is a Sports Physiotherapist and Founder of Grow Physio Academy, currenty works for UK Sports Institute (UKSI) in a rehabilitation specialist role with GB Judo athletes. He has also represented medical teams in English Premiership Rugby at Newcastle Falcons, British Gymnastics, Lawn tennis Association, and at Olympic & Commonwealth Games.
Steve lectures at Newcastle, Sheffield Hallam and Gloucester Universities, teaching Physiotherapy (BSc), Sports Physiotherapy (MSc), Sports Therapy (BSc) & Sport & Exercise Medicine. He runs Nationwide & International Sports Injury Courses and is a popular speaker at conferences.
