Welcome to the Sports Therapy Association weekly Facebook Live Webchat & Podcast: 'Let's Talk About'!
Recorded live on Tuesdays at 8pm (UK time) on the Sports Therapy Association Facebook Page , host Matt Phillips (creator of Runchatlive) brings guests from the Sports Therapy industry to answer YOUR questions and discuss topics chosen by YOU.
In this episode, we chat to Jack Chew of 'The Physio Matters Podcast' and 'Therapy Live' about Imposter Syndrome - the psychological pattern in which one doubts one's accomplishments and has a persistent internalized fear of being exposed as a "fraud".
Many therapists suffer from Imposter Syndrome, especially Sports Therapists who in the earlier days of their career decide they do not have sufficient skills and HAVE to study physiotherapy, podiatry, or something that will provide them with the tools they lack.
As Jack discusses, much of this self doubt can be a natural part of working with human beings, a natural reaction to seeing the text books we read or the courses we do not giving us the answers. We also look at how presuming one particular professional discipline will give you more tools than another is not always true. There is good and bad in all therapy professions...
